A collection of five stories involving cab drivers in five different cities. Los Angeles - A talent agent for the movies discovers her cab driver would be perfect to cast, but the cabbie is reluctant to give up her solid cab driver's career. New York - An immigrant cab driver is continually lost in a city and culture he doesn't understand. Paris - A blind girl takes a ride with a cab driver from the Ivory Coast and they talk about life and blindness. Rome - A gregarious cabbie picks up an ailing man and virtually talks him to death. Helsinki - an industrial worker gets laid off and he and his compatriots discuss the bleakness and unfairness of love and life and death.

Booooorrrrrrinnnnnng ! Segment #1: An unentertaining, if energetic, attempt to one-up the 4-letter-word count achieved by GOODFELLAS. Anyone who has flown once or twice will realize that the director had no money to employ extras at the LAX location.Never in the history of aviation has a coast-to-coast passenger stood alone at the prime baggage shoot location at the luggage carousel just before the bags to drop.Unreal.Fantasy. The phone calls were poorly acted and unbelievable.Painfully obvious plot devices. The station wagon's windows were up in one scene, then down when an actor needed to reach through, then up, then down again.Continuity -- not!Wider's fake auto driving was poor -- a chronic three inch back-and-fourth jerk all the way from LAX to the Hills. Not real life. Segment #2: A comedy with funny moments pulled down by obnoxious over-acting.Emotional aspects were played two notches above real life. One other reality check: taxi passengers cannot be locked inside the back of a cab.Locking and unlocking is controllable from inside the back seat. Segment #3: A stunning looking blind women.A most interesting concept. Most interesting. However, the execution of Segment #3 went no where. For a blind lady wanting to use a taxi to go home, she certainly was dropped off far from her doorstep!Huh? Segment #4 + #5: I ran out fast towards the end of Segment #3 hoping to avoid the film's slow, pretentious Gypsie theme music -- ineffective, awkward and out of place.
