Marisa Ventura (Lopez) is a single mother born and bred in the boroughs of New York City, who works as a maid in a first-class Manhattan hotel. By a twist of fate and mistaken identity, Marisa meets Christopher Marshall (Fiennes), a handsome heir to a political dynasty, who believes that she is a guest at the hotel. Fate steps in and throws the unlikely pair together for one night. When Marisa's true identity is revealed, the two find that they are worlds apart, even though the distance separating them is just a subway ride between Manhattan and the Bronx.

Terrible The romantic comedy is easily the most conservative of the movie genres. A promising candidate falls for a hotel-maid thinking that she's upper class. This movie is a blatant rip-off of many romantic comedies from the 1950s. In fact it could well be a shot-for-shot remake. Large city setting, wide angle scenes, flustery minor characters, lifeless pacing, few close-ups, one-dimensional baddies, lame comedy, park scene, big-deal made out of dull people and a bad soundtrack. Why do women find Fiennes attractive? Why do all of these movies have to begin with a scene over water before showing us the city? Give "Maid In Manhattan" a big miss. Even most women will find this movie tedious.
