Plot

You thought the last movie was happily ever after? You thought wrong! Bridget and Mark are now together but for how long? A jellyfish by the name of Rebecca, Bridget's relationship paranoia, unusual horsemanship, magic mushrooms and a stint in prison are just some of the things Bridget has to face in The Edge of Reason. Add to that the return of Daniel Cleaver and you have the makings of one of the funniest films this year. Will they live happily ever after? Watch and find out.

Comments

The three leads seem to inhabit their characters v. well indeed, but are let down by a really mediocre, average run -of- the- mill script. Not good especially when you consider that two of Britain's most successful screen writers (Curtis and Davies) were behind it. The script felt a bit re-hashed with tired references to big pants, short skirts...etc, a painfully pointed attempt to keep the fans happy no doubt, but it felt tired and old, with Bridget's friends and parents only accorded about 2 minutes screen time. So why bother to see it at all? While The edge of reason doesn't improve on the original it is still enjoyable in places, thanks mainly to the highly enjoyable and charismatic performance from Renee Zellwegger whose enthusiasm and sheer grasp of physical comedy keep you laughing all they way from the unfortunate pig sty landing to the '' lets re-create the lost moment'' with Darcy. Hmm Darcy,... now that's another reason to watch this film, Colin Firth having completely embodied the silent brooding hero. As for Hugh Grant, he perfects the characterization of super-cad spectacular, so well he nearly walks away with the film despite having relatively small screen time. A final reason, is the fight scene which is just v. hilarious and even funnier than the first. Basically, enjoy the film as some sort of reunion of your favorite characters(if your a fan) but just don't expect high brow Oscar winning drama
